ISEQ closes almost static

The ISEQ was almost unchanged overall today, shuffling 1.31 points up to 9704.99 by close of business.

The ISEQ was almost unchanged overall today, shuffling 1.31 points up to 9704.99 by close of business.

There was plenty of activity however, with some significant movers both down and up across many areas.

This trend was reflected in the financial sector. Anglo Irish Bank enjoyed the biggest gain, jumping 28c to €16.68, with Allied Irish Bank not far behind, climbing 20c to €22.90. There was little movement for Irish Life & Permanent (down 5c to €20.75), with Bank of Ireland losing ground, dropping 21c to €16.35.

Elsewhere, the contrasts continued, not least of all in the food and drink sector, where Donegal Creameries was up 14c to €6.99, with Kerry Group conversely down 14c to €22.36. C&C group shed 23c to €12.37.

The biggest fall of the day was endured by DCC, who lost 32c to €25.79, with FBD dropping 30c to €40.95.

In the construction sector, CRH gained 24c to €32.70. Kingspan however, had to deal with a 14c loss to €20.66.

There was better news for Icon, who enjoyed the biggest gain of the day, shooting up 37c to €32.10. Elan was the other significant mover of the day, up 16c to €11.11.

Budget airline Ryanair lost 5c to finish on €6.28, with rival Aer Lingus inching up 1c to €3.18.
