Wimbledon manager Terry Burton will sign Swedish international Hakan Mild this week after watching him score against England.
Burton has agreed a deal to bring Mild to the club, three days after he broke English hearts with an equaliser which earned Sweden a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
The Dons boss has little money to spend in the transfer market, but has agreed a nominal fee for the 30-year-old midfielder, whose contract with IFK Gothenburg is about to expire.
Burton said: ‘‘We’ve spoken to him and he’s keen to come. We’ve agreed a nominal fee to compensate his club for losing him a few months early.
‘‘Whenever you can get hold of such a quality player on a virtual free it’s very fortunate.’’
Mild has earned 73 international caps for Sweden, scoring seven goals.
