Organisers of the Lancome Trophy in Paris have confirmed that Tiger Woods will play there the week before the Ryder Cup in September.
It will be the world number one’s first appearance in France since he was part of the victorious American side at the world amateur team championship in 1994.
The event is at St Nom la Breteche on September 20-23 and it means that Woods will travel to The Belfry independently rather than be with his team-mates at a White House reception before they fly on Concorde to Birmingham.
Woods has already played on the European Tour in Dubai this year - he was second to Thomas Bjorn after taking a double bogey seven on the last hole and will be in Heidelberg on May 17-20 for the Deutsche Bank-SAP Open TPC of Europe, which he won two years ago and was joint third in last season.
If he decides to enter one more European event he would be eligible for membership and inclusion on the Order of Merit.
