Goldrun sees Red in Curragh clash

Alexander Goldrun and Red Bloom, first and second in the Audi Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh last year, are among seven declared for the Group One contest on Saturday.

A length and a half separated the pair last June when Alexander Goldrun, trained by Jim Bolger, got the upper hand over Sir Michael Stoute’s runner in the mile-and-a-quarter feature.

The field also includes Ardbrae Lady and Queen Cleopatra, who were second and third respectively in this year’s Irish 1000 Guineas.

“There’s nothing rated below 105 so it’s an absolutely top-quality race,” the Curragh racecourse manager Paul Hensey told At The Races.

The field is completed by Alexander Goldrun’s stablemate Tropical Lady, Con Collins’ Chelsea Rose and Perfect Hedge, trained by John Oxx.
