Stephen Pearson’s agent has urged Celtic to make a quick decision on the future of the Scotland midfielder after accepting a bid from Derby County.
Rams boss Billy Davies has claimed his offer – believed to be in the region of £600,000 (€889,000) – had been given the thumbs up by the Parkhead club.
Davies insists the Pride Park side are now just waiting on Celtic boss Gordon Strachan to give the green light to the transfer.
However, with a potential question mark hanging over the futures of Stilian Petrov, Neil Lennon and Alan Thompson at Celtic, the Glasgow club are unlikely to want another midfielder to leave.
But the player’s representative, Willie Mackay, has still not been made aware of any deal being struck for Pearson and is looking to secure the player’s future as soon as possible.
The agent has not been impressed by the way Pearson has been treated by Celtic.
Mackay said: “Why not come out and say Stephen is not going anywhere?
“There has been none of that and we do not know what they are doing. I have heard they have accepted an offer and, if they have, then surely they (the board) would need to speak to the manager.
“Peter Lawwell, Gordon Strachan and the rest of the board wouldn’t exactly go down the tunnel to do the huddle. I don’t know who picks the team and who makes the decisions there – Gordon Strachan or Peter Lawwell?”
Mackay added: “Stephen is a Celtic supporter and signed for them at a time when he could have signed for a lot of other clubs, such as Rangers, so he should not be treated the way the club are treating him.
“He played for Celtic against Chelsea on Wednesday and was one of their best players. Now he expects to start in the next game against St Mirren on Saturday. I do not know whether Celtic have received a bid because they have not said anything to Stephen or me.
“I have only been told by a lot of other people that they have accepted a bid for him. I would like somebody at Celtic to come out and clear this up but as far as I am aware, Gordon Strachan wants to keep him.”
Meanwhile, Celtic eased the disappointment of losing to Hearts last weekend with the draw at Stamford Bridge and had a surprise supporter in the Chelsea ranks – newly-appointed England captain John Terry.
He said: “You won’t know this but I have always been a bit of a Celtic fan. There was only one reason I took to them. Like my brother, Paul, I followed Scottish football as well as English football when I was young.
“He supported Rangers and I wanted some atmosphere in the house, so I went for Celtic. You start doing that as a kid and find yourself looking at their results ever after.”
