Dana Quigley edged Larry Nelson at the Champions Tour’s season-opening event using a strong finish to the claim the Mastercard Championship.
Quigley began the day tied for the lead with Nelson and Fuzzy Zoeller but had four birdies on a bogey-free back nine to close a five-under-par 67 and win by two strokes at 18 under.
It was the eighth Champions Tour victory for the 55-year-old Quigley, who won twice last season.
Nelson needed to birdie the final hole to force a play-off, but he put his approach into a greenside bunker and two-putted for bogey.
After a three-under 69, he settled for second at 16 under while Zoeller struggled his way to a 70 and finished third at 15 under.
The best round of the day went to Jack Nicklaus, whose 66 left him in a tie for 11th.
