Alan Dukes, the chairman of what was once Anglo Irish Bank, has today clarified his position with regard to pension payments.
It follows claims by Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams that the former Fine Gael leader is still receiving his TD pension and current salary.
Mr Adams said it was proof that the "golden circle" culture is alive and well.
Speaking to Kfm today, Mr Dukes said that the fact of the payment is true, but his salary as chairman of Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC) has been reduced accordingly.
"What I’ve actually done is to reduce the fee that I take as Chair of IBRC by the amount of the State pension," he said.
"The amount that I receive in State pension is a matter of public record, it is published, and the amount of fee that I receive from the bank is also a matter of public record."
