The Republic of Ireland will face Norway in an international friendly in Oslo on Wednesday, August 20.
It will be the 17th meeting between the sides and the first since April 2003, when Ireland won 1-0 at Lansdowne Road, courtesy of a Damien Duff goal.
That was Ireland’s seventh win over the Norwegians, who have only won two of the 16 previous encounters between the sides. The other seven games ended in draws and four of the last six meetings have ended scoreless.
The match is likely to be Ireland’s final warm-up game before the start of the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign in September.
Ireland have two other friendly matches already confirmed for 2008. On February 6, Brazil will visit Croke Park while Serbia will provide the opposition on May 24.
Norway are ranked 29th in the FIFA World Rankings, six places above Ireland.
