Allen 'couldn't handle' fame

British singer Lily Allen regrets her wild-child behaviour when she was starting out in the music business - because she had no idea how to handle the excesses she was presented with on nights out.

The 'Smile' hitmaker was just 21 years old when she hit the big time and was bombarded with invites to attend parties and events - which came with the lure of free alcohol and drugs.

The now 23-year-old found it hard to resist temptation and as a result has regularly been pictured falling out of clubs in the early hours of the morning.

She says: "If you’d come to my place six months ago or two years ago, I wouldn’t probably be up by now (11am). There would have been empty vodka bottles everywhere, drugs, whatever.

"If you think, when all this happened I was 21. Becoming famous is all a bit scary and weird and I had no idea how to handle it…

"So you go out and you get off your head. You get invited to parties and there’s free drink and drugs. Well you do, don’t you? What other 21-year-old wouldn’t do that?"

But Allen is adamant she's put her wild days behind her - and won't allow any sort of hard partying in her home.

She adds: "I don’t want people crashed out here all hours of the morning. I don’t want any drugs in this flat."
