The British and Irish Lions have defeated the Australian Super 12 Champions the ACT Brumbies with a thrilling injury time try and conversion.

Austin Healy proved the Lion’s hero as he passed over the line late into injury time to level the game and Matt Dawson, who attacked the coaches in the papers last weekend, kicked the conversion to give the Lions a 30-28 points victory.

It was a result that the Lions hardly deserved following a dismal display, particularly in the first half.

The Northern Hemisphere side trailed their opponents throughout the match until the final minutes of the game.

Three Irish players featured in the game: Ronan O’Gara, David Wallace and Jeremy Davidson.

O’Gara will be very disappointed with his performance, as he squandered too much possession, missed tackles and made several poor passes and decisions.

Wallace may convince the selectors to give him a place on the bench for the test game on Saturday after he topped off a competent performance with a second-half try.

Davidson also did well, working hard in the loose and winning plenty of lineout possession.
