James Bethell is to switch Mine – for whom the Haydock ground would have been too testing at the weekend – to the next meeting at the Merseyside course on Thursday.
The Middleham trainer took his three-time Bunbury Cup winner out of the Betfred “Treble Odds On All Luckys” Superior Mile Listed race over a mile to wait for a similar contest over seven furlongs at a meeting which has been transferred from Epsom.
Bethell said: “Mine was due to go for the Betfred Superior Mile but he wouldn’t have gone in the heavy ground. Hopefully it will dry up in time for Thursday’s race, which is also Listed.
“The long-term plan is to return to Ascot for the big handicap at the Festival of British Racing on September 23, although we do need better luck with the draw. He’s been there three times this year and had stalls 20, 30 and 17.”
