Man questioned in connection with Cork bomb released

A man being questioned by gardaí in connection with a car-bomb attack in Cork city in the early hours of yesterday morning has released without charge today.

A man being questioned by gardaí in connection with a car-bomb attack in Cork city in the early hours of yesterday morning has released without charge today.

The 34-year-old was detained after he tried to breach a Garda cordon around a suspicious device under a car in Ballyvolane.

The man is thought to be the owner of the car.

A member of the Army bomb disposal team was injured when the device exploded as he was examining the car in Ballyvolane.

He has since been discharged from hospital.
