Horan names Mayo team to face Leitrim

Mayo manager James Horan has named two debutants in his team to face Leitrim in Sunday's Connacht SFC semi-final at Elverys McHale Park (throw-in 3.30pm).

Westport duo Kevin Keane and Lee Keegan have both been handed their first Championship starts in defence.

Keane joins Ger Cafferkey and Keith Higgins in the full-back line, while Keegan lines out alongside Donal Vaughan and Colm Boyle in the half-back line.

With Aidan O'Shea continuing to be unavailable due to a long-term groin injury, the game has also come too soon for Ronan McGarrity who returned to the panel recently after a long absence.

This leaves Castlebar Mitchels clubman Barry Moran and Ballintubber's Danny Geraghty lining out at midfield. Kevin McLoughlin, Cillian O'Connor and Alan Dillon form a formidable half-forward line.

Team captain Andy Moran is named at full-forward and is flanked by Alan Freeman and Jason Doherty.

This weekend's game sees Mayo become the final county to make their first appearance in the 2012 GAA Senior Football Championship.

Mayo have beaten Leitrim on the last two occasions the sides have met in the Championship, in 1997 by 0-18 to 0-11 and in 2006 by 1-10 to 1-9.

Leitrim's last win over Mayo was in the 1994 Connacht final when they won by 0-12 to 2-4 to take their last provincial silverware.

MAYO (SFC v Leitrim): David Clarke; Kevin Keane, Ger Cafferkey, Keith Higgins; Lee Keegan, Donal Vaughan, Colm Boyle; Barry Moran, Danny Geraghty; Kevin McLoughlin, Cillian O'Connor, Alan Dillon; Alan Freeman, Andy Moran (capt), Jason Doherty.
