Tommy Carr faces his former charges at Croke Park today in the final round of the All-Ireland football qualifiers.
Roscommon, who fell to Mayo in the Connacht final, are battling to survive in the championship and to regain some credibility against a Dublin side who have yet to be seriously tested in the qualifiers.
The Dubs have defeated Longford, London and Leitrim since their Leinster exit to eventual champions Westmeath.
Tommy Lyons' side are hot favourites to win a quarter-final berth in front of their home support in Croke Park, where the westerners' record is unimpressive.
Roscommon boss Carr has made sweeping changes to his side for today's game.
Star forward Frankie Dolan, who was replaced at the interval during Roscommon's Connacht final defeat, has been dropped for today's make-or-break tie.
Full-forward Karol Mannion has also been dropped and there are call-ups for Nigel Dineen and Jonathan Dunning.
Defender John Nolan makes way and is replaced by Ray Cox, while atttacker John Tiernan is relegated to the bench and Eamon Towey takes his place.
Meanwhile, the Dubs look strong with Paddy Christie leading from the back. Bryan Cullen is in his preferred position at centre-back and Shane Ryan is on the wing.
Ciaran Whelan's move to the attack services the Metropolitans' forwards - particularly Alan Brogan - and their attack should prove too much for the Roscommon defence.
