A health report comparing health attitudes, beliefs and status among Irish and non-Irish nationals will be launched today.
More than 1,000 adults took part in the 2007 Pfizer Health Index, which highlights health concerns and priorities among the general public.
This year, the study was expanded to incorporate non-Irish national populations.
In its preliminary results released two weeks ago, the healthcare company found almost nine out of 10 non-Irish nationals in Ireland (89%) are here to work or to find work.
It also revealed three out of five people would make the provision of more hospitals and hospital beds their first priority in the Irish health service, while 9% want more access to GPs, with another 9% believing there should be greater provision of medical cards.
Guest speakers will also examine how Ireland can best address the health needs of newer populations within the context of overall challenges they face integrating in Ireland.
They include Lucy Gaffney, from National Action Plan Against Racism; Maria Lordan Dunphy, HSE national health promotion development manager; and Dave Gallagher, Pfizer Healthcare Ireland country manager.
