England captain David Beckham wants an end to the off-the-field scandals that have rocked football.

Beckham wants the “beautiful game” to regain centre stage after a series of high-profile setbacks for the sport.

“There have been some unfortunate situations this season,” the Real Madrid midfielder told The Sun.

“But hopefully that will clear up and clear out of the way. It’s not good for football.

“I think it is important we get back to thinking about the beautiful game that it is and that people love.”

Meanwhile, Beckham has answered speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea by reaffirming his desire to see out his contract in Spain.

“I would definitely hope I am going to be at Real Madrid for the next four years of my contract,” he said,

“This is the happiest I have been for quite a long time.

“My family are happy and, now I think we have found a house, we can settle down.”
