Ellison pair fine

Malton trainer Brian Ellison has been able to breathe a sigh of relief regarding his two horses stabled in Australia, despite the outbreak of Equine Influenza.

Both Carte Diamond and Bay Story have been Down Under for over a year but as they are currently in Victoria, they are under no immediate threat.

And while racing in New South Wales is facing a shutdown for a minimum of two months, Victoria are still scheduled to get under way again this weekend.

“Mine are fine. Everything is OK out in Victoria at the moment, they are just taking precautions that nothing comes into Racing Victoria,” said Ellison.

“I’ve been on the phone to people out there who have been really helpful, but racing starts again at the weekend in Victoria.

“All they are doing is just keeping a really close eye on what comes in and out (of Australia).

“Carte Diamond is not going to race out there, he is coming back soon but Bay Story is in the Melbourne Cup.

“They are out in the wilds, somewhere in the bush, and they have there own gallop so they don’t need to go near any other horses.

“They have stopped all movement of horses and hopefully that should have the right effect.

“Carte Diamond will not be ready for the Spring Carnival so he is going to come home as soon as all this dies down.

“He has to come back via Sydney so the last thing we want is for him to get that and bring it over here.”
