Britney Spears is "having a blast" in her latest incarnation as a sitcom actress.

The troubled pop star has landed a cameo role in hit show 'How I Met Your Mother' on US cable channel CBS, which she is shooting in Los Angeles this week.

Spears plays a secretary called Abby who falls for the show's lead character Ted (played by Josh Radnor).

When reporters caught up with the star leaving the CBS lot on Wednesday night, she said: "(The experience) has been so terrific. Everyone, including the cast, the crew and the producers, has been wonderful.

"Abby is such a fun girl to play. I'm having a blast!"
