1973 All-Ireland medal winner Humphrey Kelleher died suddenly at his home in Cork last night.

A talented footballer, Kelleher, who was 59, played at full-back for Cork in the '73 final in which current senior football manager Billy Morgan captained the Rebels to victory as goalkeeper. Cork scored five goals that day against Galway in the county's first All-Ireland success since 1945.

Kelleher was one of a number of players from the Millstreet club in north Cork on that side. A teak-tough defender, Kelleher also won a Railway Cup medal in 1975 as a member of the Munster team.
