Aston Villa’s patience in pursuing Mustapha Hadji has been rewarded with the Coventry City midfielder joining the Midlands club in a £4.5m swap deal.
Villa’s hopes of signing Hadji hit a late snag when Julian Joachim, who is to join Coventry City as part of the deal, could not agree personal terms.
This problem has now been rectified by Coventry who hope to introduce their new striker on Monday.
Hadji has signed a four-year contract with Villa, who are to pay Coventry an additional £2m on top of Joachim’s valuation.
The Moroccan international, who will not be available for Villa’s opening Intertoto Cup game next week, is due to report for training with his new club today.
Hadji is the second Moroccan signed by Villa manager John Gregory, who also snapped up Hassan Kachloul from Southampton on a free transfer last month.
