Midfielder Ger Farragher, a member of the Galway senior panel, scored eight of his side's first-half tally to take the Tribesmen into the lead.
Galway went 0-07 to 0-01 ahead before Wexford got a goal through Rory Jacob and Barry Lambert added a second score.
