Footballing legend George Best returned to TV last night after spending nearly nine months recovering from a liver transplant.
The 56-year-old former Manchester United and Northern Ireland soccer player was back at work at Sky Sports studios in west London in his role as commentator.
He summarised the Blackburn Rovers versus Manchester United Worthington Cup semi-final 2nd leg game, at Ewood park.
He joined fellow broadcasters, former Fulham team-mates Alan Mullery and Rodney Marsh, and former West Ham striker Tony Cottee and Sky Sports football presenter Jeff Stelling.
After years of heavy drinking, Best had a successful operation at London’s Cromwell Hospital last summer, supported by his wife Alex.
His return to work comes as legendary football manager Brian Clough underwent a similar liver transplant.
Clough, 67, was recuperating after surgery last week and was said to be doing “extremely well”.
The former Nottingham Forest manager underwent his liver transplant swap at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.
