Rejuvenated sprinter Attache is on target for a tilt at Saturday’s Tote Ayr Gold Cup – providing the rains stay away.
The son of Wolfhound, winner of two of his four starts since switching to Newmarket handler Michael Jarvis from Lynda Ramsden, was cut from 20-1 to 14-1 today following sustained support.
And Jarvis believes the four-year-old has a “live chance” in the sprint feature if the Scottish track, currently riding good to soft according to clerk of the course Chris Kennedy, continues to dry out.
“He’s very well in himself and I’m hoping it stays dry this week,” declared Jarvis.
“He can quicken off decent ground, but when it’s soft he just gets bogged down in it.
“I was pleased with his victory at Haydock last time as he showed an excellent turn of foot to win and he heads to Ayr with a live chance if the ground is good.”
Attache, fancied for the Lincoln Handicap at the start of the season, has proved a revelation since being dropped in trip and Jarvis revealed the gelding’s work at home left him in no doubt where his abilities lay.
“He showed that much speed when we worked him that it seemed the natural thing was to drop him in trip,” he added.
“The reason he’s won a couple is probably also because he had come down the handicap a bit as well.”
