The Irish Medical Organisation and the Health Service Employers Agency are due to return to the Labour Relations Commission today in an effort to resolve the eight-week-old public health doctors' strike.

The Irish Medical Organisation and the Health Service Employers Agency are due to return to the Labour Relations Commission today in an effort to resolve the eight-week-old public health doctors' strike.

The two sides failed to reach agreement yesterday, but have agreed to continue discussions about the striking doctor's demands for improved pay and conditions.

The IMO has insisted doctors are not prepared to alter their demands for pay parity with hospital consultants and the establishment of an improved out-of-hours service.
