Three trustees of a Christian church have given solemn undertakings to the High Court not to obstruct bank-appointed receivers from taking possession of three of their properties in Dublin.

Gerry Byrne, Brendan Hade and his wife Sheila of the Victory Christian Fellowship were ordered into court after a judge was told the congregation was staging a sit-in.

The three trustees of the Victory Christian Fellowship were found in contempt of court for blocking receivers from taking possession of church premises in Stillorgan, Tallaght and Westland Row in Dublin city centre.

On a previous occasion a judge heard that the congregation had been told the receiver’s actions are “not legal in the name of Jesus”.

Bank of Scotland appointed receivers over an unpaid €18m loan.

All three today gave a solemn undertaking to Judge Paul Gilligan that will ensure a peaceful handover of the three properties at 2pm next Monday.

The court heard gardaí are happy to be present to ensure no breach of the peace.

In the meantime an army of Christians will gather at the church tonight to pray for the G8 summit.
