The Cork County Board is to fork out £3m to upgrade its two stadiums, Pairc Ui Chaoimh and Pairc Ui Rinn.
Almost £2.5m is to be spent on Pairc Ui Rinn on extending the existing stand on the Cork Constitution side of the grounds, state-of-the-art floodlighting and a covered standing area at the Boreenmanna Road side of the ground.
Planning permission has been granted and tenders have been issued.
When completed, the ground should hold 17,000 comfortably.
Meanwhile, planning permission has been granted for the installation of new toilet blocks in the uncovered stand of Pairc Ui Chaoimh and at the Blackrock end of the ground.
Dressing room facilities are also being improved.
