Sinn Fein has described the UVF's decision to cease co-operating with republicans as a retrograde and worrying step.

Sinn Fein has described the UVF's decision to cease co-operating with republicans as a retrograde and worrying step.

Responding to today's development, party spokesman Gerry Kelly accused the UVF of recently smuggling guns from Scotland and of targeting republicans, including himself.

Mr Kelly said it made no sense to end contact with Sinn Fein and help collapse the structures set up to settle differences between republicans and loyalists.
