Three adults and one child have been taken to hospital following a fire in Balbriggan in Dublin.

The blaze broke out at Landys Court in Balbriggan overnight. The alarm was raised at 1.30am. Three units of the fire brigade from Skerries, Balbriggan and Swords and two ambulance crews responded.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, two of the adults and the child had already escaped.

Fire officers then rescued the man who was still inside and brought him to safety.

All four were suffering from smoke inhalation. The child was taken to Temple Street Children's hospital while the 3 adults were taken to Beaumont.
