Northern Ireland’s Trevor Moore (Escort WRC) has a 6.2 second lead at the overnight halt of the

Windscreen Centre Cork Forest Rally, the penultimate round of the KBB Doors National Forest Championship.

However, with eight more stages tomorrow, Cork driver, John McCarthy (Subaru 555) is in a very challenging position.

A further 15.4 seconds behind McCarthy is the Escort WRC of Dominic McNeill with Glen Allen also in an Escort WRC, completing the top four.

Pre-event championship leader, Eddie Kinirons rolled his Toyota Celica out of the rally on just the second stage while top seed, Dermot Kelly (Escort WRC) was a non-starter.

Others in the top frame are Kevin Lynch (Subaru WRC), who is fifth and Kevin O’Kane (Subaru) sixth.

Moore will certainly have to watch McCarthy who moved from fourth after three stages to second at the end of S.S. 6 that brought the first leg to a conclusion.

Tomorrow’s leg consists of eight stages.

1.T. Moore 24m. 00.2s.

2. J. McCarthy 24m. 06.5s.

3. D. McNeill 24m. 21.9s.

4. G. Allen 24m. 29.4s.

5. K. Lynch 24m. 36.8s.

6 .K. O’Kane 24m. 38.8s.

7. J. Murphy 24m. 41.8s.
