Rovers missed a penalty and had defender Stephen McGuinness sent off for the second time this season as they had to settle for a point against plucky College.

After a first half they dominated to no avail, Rovers' striker Sean Francis cracked a 57th minute penalty off a post after UCD keeper Barry Ryan had pulled down Noel Hunt.

McGuinness, sent off in the FAI Cup second round replay with Dundalk last week, was then red carded three minutes from time for a foul on Robert Doyle.
