The airport was closed overnight because of snow and ice on the runway - but a spokesperson says the facility is now fully operational after snow and ice crews worked throughout the night.

More than 40,000 people were affected by the closures, which have been criticised by Ryanair.

"Safety is a priority for Dublin Airport Authority, and I would have thought it was a priority for Ryanair as well," said Siobhan Moore of the Dublin Airport Authority.

"If an aircraft skids off the runway, we are not talking about a couple of hours of closure, we are talking about a very long closure of the airfield."
