Spider rash ruins Perry's honeymoon

Katy Perry’s honeymoon was ruined by a spider.

The singer and new husband Russell Brand flew to the Soneva Fushi resort in the Maldives after their Indian wedding last month but plans for a romantic holiday were reportedly spoilt after the ‘Firework’ hitmaker was treated with medication that left her too exhausted to consummate the marriage.

According to Australia’s Grazia magazine, Katy – who had imposed a one-month sex ban before tying the knot - fell foul of the insect almost immediately after arriving at the £8000-a-night resort and was left with a rash on her legs, forcing her to seek medical advice.

Russell, 35, had previously told guests at the couple’s lavish ceremony at the luxury Aman-i-Khas resort in Rajasthan, India that he couldn’t wait to break the sex ban with his 25-year-old bride.

Referring to the ancient Indian sex guide, he joked he would spend the next few days "taking Katy through the Kama Sutra".

Friends had revealed that the couple were looking forward to some quality time alone.

A friend of the pair added: "Where they're going is out of the way and they can just relax on the beach, enjoy each other's company and get massages with no other distractions."
