Tickets for the greatly anticipated U2 concert at Slane have sold out in a record 45 minutes this morning following huge demand.

Queues formed early yesterday and many waited overnight.

It will be the first performance from the band in Ireland since the Pop-Mart tour in Lansdowne Road four years ago.

The concert will mark the 20th anniversary of their last appearance at Slane.

Tickets were limited to six per person.

A spokesperson from Ticketmaster said this provided fans with an equal opportunity to get tickets.
