The Government is expected to reveal its National Health Strategy later today.

The main thrust of the documents is expected to be a commitment to reduce waiting times for all public patients to just three months by 2004.

At present, most people are on health waiting lists for more than a year.

To facilitate its new plans, the Government is believed to have adopted the PDs’ proposals for the establishment of a fund that will help public patients get treatment in private hospitals or abroad.
