Postal workers in the North have voted to return to work tomorrow after the police assured them that death threats allegedly made by the Red Hand Defenders were bogus.
The postmen decided to mount an indefinite strike yesterday until the group, a cover-name for the UDA, lifted its threat against them.
However, assistant chief constable Alan McQuillan met leaders of the Communication Workers Union today and told them he was 90% sure they were safe to return to work.
The UDA claimed responsibility for the murder of Catholic postman Daniel McColgan in north Belfast on Saturday morning, but has since ordered its own men to stand down and lift their death threats.
