Coral-Eclipse winner David Junior is on target for the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Churchill Downs on November 4.
Brian Meehan’s four-year-old was registering a third Group One win at Sandown after victories in the Champion Stakes at Newmarket and a win at Nad Al Sheba in the Dubai Duty Free.
David Junior won the latter event after a five-month break and Meehan is unconcerned that his Breeders’ Cup attempt will come after another lengthy absence.
“David Junior is fine,” Meehan told At The Races. “In all honesty it’s a strange thing to do, not running him for so long.
“But he started full training in December/January time for the Dubai meeting and he didn’t really have much of a winter off.
“There was five-month gap from the Champion Stakes to the Dubai race and this seems to be working out really well for him.
“There are very exciting times ahead, he is in great shape and he’s such a wonderful horse.”
