This year's Oscar winners will have only 45 seconds to say thank you.

But they have been told if they miss anyone out in their acceptance speech they can thank them on the internet.

The show's producer Gil Cates told guests at the pre-Oscars luncheon in Los Angeles that winners would be limited to 45 seconds.

"You can hand us a list of all the people you want to thank. This will then be put up on the official Oscars website under a picture of the winner," he said.

Cates then demonstrated the plan on a huge projection screen - on which his face appeared and underneath it the names of all the people who help make the show .

He has produced the TV show for the awards for the past 10 years.

The Oscars has become notorious for over-long gushing speeches.

The ceremony will be presented at LA's Shrine Auditorium on March 25.
