Man held re Balbriggan murder

A man in his twenties has been arrested in Dublin in connection with the murder of Mary Whelan in Balbriggan last month.

A man in his twenties has been arrested in Dublin in connection with the murder of Mary Whelan in Balbriggan last month.

The 27-year-old was found dead at the bottom of the stairs at her home on March 1.

A post mortem was carried out, although the results were not made public.

However, a murder investigation was immediately launched.

This morning at 8.30am a man was arrested in Balbriggan.

He is currently being held at Balbriggan garda station, under Section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
