Ed Dunlop believes Ouija Board is in ‘nearly perfect’ form ahead of her bid for Japan Cup glory.
The five-year-old, fresh from regaining her Breeders’ Cup crown at Churchill Downs, is set to take on the likes of Deep Impact and Heart’s Cry in Tokyo on Sunday.
Luca Cumani’s Alkaased was successful 12 months ago with Ouija Board back in fifth but the mare, who is owned by Lord Derby, is arguably in the form of her life this time around.
“We just did a light canter with her today,” said Dunlop.
“She’s in fantastic condition and as far as I can see, her form is nearly perfect.
“At this point I can’t ask for more. Frankie Dettori is scheduled to come and gallop her on Thursday,” he told www.japanracing.jp.
“Her exercises for tomorrow, Friday and Saturday will be much the same as today, just a light canter.”
