Martin Scorsese is still hiring for his Howard Hughes biopic , "The Aviator", which is set to start shooting this July.
The film will star Leonardo DiCaprio.
Cate Blanchett, John C. Reilly, Kate Beckinsale and Gwen Stefani are close to signing on.
Blanchett would play Katharine Hepburn who had a volatile three-year affair with the neurotic tycoon and figures largely in the "Aviator" script by John Logan.
Beckinsale would appear as Ava Gardner, Hughes' love interest after he splits with Hepburn.
In some unusual casting, rocker Stefani has been picked to play Jean Harlow. Much like Harlow when Howard Hughes cast her in "Hell's Angels" back in the 1920’s, Stefani has never had a major film role.
