Henderson: Grandfather can inspire me to win
Ella Henderson believes she can win 'The X Factor' with help from her dead grandfather.
The 16-year-old singer wowed judges with a tearful tribute to her grandad Bill - who died of lung cancer when she was eight - on the show last night, and imagines him watching her every time
she is on stage.
She told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "Every time I perform I always imagine him there next to me or sat in the audience watching me.
"I know he is with me for every performance. He was so supportive of my singing.
"My family give me the confidence to go up on stage but my grandad gives me the inner confidence when I'm on stage singing. If he was still here he would be so, so proud. He would put his arms around my mum and dad and say 'See, I told you it would all be worth it'. And if he was still alive I would thank him for giving me the inspiration that he did.
"He was always the happy, cheery, jokey guy."
Ella's performance won a standing ovation from the crowd, and was highly praised by judge Mel B.
Mel told her: "What we just witnessed was incredible - absolutely incredible.
"Your song writing is so clever. It made me go into my own little world. When you sang it, you just made me believe every single word. I was right there with you."
The judging panel - which saw guest judge Mel joined by regulars Tulisa, Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow - were also impressed by singers Curtis Golden and Jahmene Douglas, who sang a version of Etta James'
'At Last' on yesterday's show.
