Frankie booked for Acclamation

In-form Frankie Dettori will take the ride on Acclamation in the Millennium & Copthorne Hotels Diadem Stakes at Ascot tomorrow.

The six-furlong Group Two contest features some tough performers with The Tatling, Airwave and Fayr Jag all entered but trainer Gerald Cottrell said: “He is well and we have got our fingers crossed.”

The four-year-old has been mixing it with the best all season and has been placed in both the Victor Chandler Nunthorpe Stakes and King’s Stand Stakes.

He was beaten by top sprinters Oasis Dream and Choisir respectively, each time over five furlongs.

Cottrell, however, thinks the four-year-old may be better at a slightly longer distance.

“I would think he is probably better over six furlongs. He ran well over five at Ascot but personally I think six might be better.

“Frankie will ride on Saturday. He has ridden him before – he won on him at the sales race at Doncaster as a two-year-old.”
