Ki dreams of Rangers goal

Ki Sung-Yong arrived in Glasgow last night to seal his £2m move to Celtic and revealed his dream – to make his debut against Rangers at Parkhead on January 3 and score.

The 20-year-old South Korean is expected to complete his move from FC Seoul in the next few days following a medical.

However, he will first of all sample the atmosphere of Celtic Park at tonight’s Europa League clash with Hapoel Tel Aviv.

“If I scored against Rangers, it would be fantastic – the most important moment of my life,” he told The Daily Record. “It is a dream of mine."

“I’m going to the Hapoel game and it will be an incredible experience. I don’t think I’ll forget my first Celtic match."

“I met Scott McDonald in Korea when Australia were there and he told me about the fans and how passionate they are.

“I can’t wait to feel that emotion for myself.”

If the deal goes through without any hitches, Ki will reportedly sign a three-and-a-half-year deal before returning to Korea this weekend.

He will officially report back as a Celtic player later this month.

Ki, voted Asian young player of the year, reiterated his recent admission that Liverpool midfield ace Steven Gerrard was his role model.

He said: “I can promise I’m here to try to win the SPL title.

“I want to settle into Celtic as quickly as possible so I can help the team right away.

“And because I am a young player, I have a lot of energy.

“I do a lot of running. I can pass and shoot and want to be like Steven Gerrard because he’s my hero.

“I can’t wait to show what I can do.”
