Trouble has broken out at Drumcree this afternoon after the controversial Orange Order parade disbanded.

Trouble has broken out at Drumcree this afternoon after the controversial Orange Order parade disbanded.

Groups of Loyalists have started hurling stones and other missiles at members of the security forces who were manning the barricade that blocks the parade from marching down the Nationalist Garvaghy Road.

The Assistant Chief Constable revealed that he and his officers have been spat upon and had stones thrown at them while guarding the blockade.

Violence had not been expected to break out this afternoon and the marchers had already dispersed before the violence began.

The Orange Order has been praised by police and army officials for their good behaviour throughout today’s parade but the individuals involved in the fracas since then have been criticised.
