Czech PM demands 'Yes' vote from Ireland

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic says the Irish people would be acting selfishly if it rejects the Nice Treaty for a second time in the referendum next autumn.

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic says the Irish people would be acting selfishly if it rejects the Nice Treaty for a second time in the referendum next autumn.

Milan Zamann says Ireland would block further enlargement of the EU if it continues to reject the Treaty and he insists Ireland holds the future of his people and the people of other applicant nations in its hands.

Speaking after the conclusion of this weekend’s EU Summit in Seville, Mr Zamann said a repeat of the previous referendum result on the Treaty would be a damning indictment of the Irish people.
