Gardai seek help in solving Ballybay murder

Gardai in Co Monaghan have appealed for help from the public following the murder of 68-year-old Philomena Lyons in Ballybay on Saturday.

Gardai in Co Monaghan have appealed for help from the public following the murder of 68-year-old Sister Philomena Lyons in Ballybay on Saturday.

The elderly nun’s body was found outside St Joseph’s convent on Saturday evening after she missed a bus to Dublin. She was sexually assaulted before being strangled to death.

Gardai have appealed for anybody who saw anything suspicious in Ballybay at the weekend to come forward.
