Stelios Giannakopoulos claims he is “fully committed” to Bolton after reports from Greece quoted him as saying he “would give everything” to join Liverpool.

The 31-year-old Greece international attracted interest from the Reds last summer before signing a new three-year deal with Wanderers.

But reports from his homeland yesterday quoted him as saying: “I would give everything to go to Liverpool. That’s my dream. Not only to go to Liverpool but, in general, to go to a bigger team.

“Then I would say that I have reached the peak of my career.”

However, Giannakopoulos told Bolton’s official website, www.bwfc.co.uk, today: “I have aspirations of playing in Europe again with Bolton Wanderers and I am fully committed in helping them to qualify this season.

“I signed a three-year deal early in this season and I want to achieve great success with the club during that period.”
