Sonia O'Sullivan turned on the style as she eased to victory in her final Irish appearance before next month's Olympic games at the Mardyke.
Looking tremendously fit, O'Sullivan controlled the race from the outset lurking on the shoulder of long-time leader Alena Samokhvalova before surging into the lead four laps from home which she would never relinquish.
O'Sullivan finished with a time of 15m 15.95s and speaking afterwards said she plans to race in the 3,000 metres in Madrid and Zurich before next month's Olympics in Athens.
The other story to come out of the Women's 5,000 metres was the performance of Ireland's Maria McCambridge who performed brilliantly to stay among the leaders until O'Sullivan broke away. But McCambridge maintained her composure to claim a highly-creditable third place with a time of 15m 50.16s.
