Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, the man who helped America through the September 11 attacks, landed in London tonight, hours before being made an honorary knight.
The politician will attend Buckingham Palace tomorrow when the Queen will present him with the honorary KBE for his efforts in the wake of the terrorist attacks.
He landed at Heathrow by Concorde about 9.15pm where he was met by the chairman of British Airways, Rod Eddington.
Mr Giuliani was joined by his partner Judith Nathan and will also meet Prime Minister Tony Blair, Home Secretary David Blunkett, the Duke of York and the Lord Mayor of London during his three-day visit.
Joining him at Buckingham Palace tomorrow will be former New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik and former New York Fire Commissioner Thomas von Essen, who will each receive honorary CBEs.
