Oxegen fans begin trip to Punchestown

Hundreds of revellers are travelling to Co Kildare today for the annual Oxegen music festival at Punchestown.

Hundreds of revellers are travelling to Co Kildare today for the annual Oxegen music festival at Punchestown.

The event gets underway tomorrow and runs until Sunday, but the campsites are opening today.

Up to 80,000 music fans are expected in Punchestown during the weekend to see headline acts including Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon, The Killers, The Script and Lady GaGa.

Ticket-holders are being urged to allow three hours' travelling time to the venue and to use public transport where possible.
